Edward F. O'Day papers, 1847-1928.

Correspondence concerning O'Day's research on the Empire Mines and Grass Valley history and the writing of the article, "Grass Valley and the Empire, Notes on a Community and a Mine" for William Bowers Bourn II. The collection includes eight letters from William Bowers Bourn II to O'Day concerning the project and typescripts and a bound copy of the article. The collection also contains various other manuscripts by O'Day, research notes and extensive excerpts from newspapers, books, and other documents concerning the Empire Mines, Grass Valley history and mining in general in California.
